How does being queer inform your work?

It has encouraged me to be my most authentic self, even when it is hard, and even when it can mean opening up myself and my experiences to strangers at times. I especially like to show queer representation in my character art because I like making stories that might have helped myself with understanding more about the queer experience as a kiddo or teen.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I genuinely enjoy a lot of the modern cartoons we're seeing with queer representation. Shows like Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Owl House, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and She-Ra are so much fun to watch, and have excellent representation!

Which other queer people inspire you?

Hard to pick specifically, but I am honestly inspired the most by the queer community directly beside me. The local queer groups in town like TransPonder and The Lavender Network do amazing work, help without asking for anything in return, and consistently inspire me to be my most authentic self. I love seeing what my community in town can do, and how when we band together, we can be the support and family that so many of us want and need.
