An Edinburgh-based graphic designer who specialises in branding, magazine layout and poster design. I love a creative challenge, and any opportunity to learn something new, or try something strange with my design work!

How does being queer inform your work?

For me, my experience with queerness gives me my unique perspective in seeing how to create greater appeal in terms of marketability, being able to understand specific dynamics that exist outside cis/het/monogmusnomitivy. While also being able to learn from other queer artists to expand what I can do, I do not see creativity having an upper limit, only limits we personally impose on ourselves. Once we learn to move beyond limits, we can explore new means of creativity.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

My favourite piece of queer culture is more of an element of the larger social movement. I enjoy the "home-made" aspect that inspires our creative roots. Often queer history and creativity was founded without large financial backing or access to large-scale creative tools, so we see a number of elements/designs/concepts that are based on simple creative means. Rough old school photocopiers, hand-drawn poster typography and widespread zine publication. Queerness is synonymous with a form of personal creativity.

Which other queer people inspire you?

Our resilience and community. I have found many times that our community is one of supportive strenght. The more the merrier, able to help seek answers, provide aid, comfort or even simple solidarity. We are all in the same boat and we all know how hard it can be. Our kindness and creativity keeps us going.
