Transmasc + neurodiverse early-career designer/artist who works to bring tactility, meaning, and accessibility to everything he designs. Passionate about queering user research, fidgets, mycelium, zinemaking, much more. Would love to connect!

How does being queer inform your work?

My queerness inherently taught me about the breadth of human experience. I'm always thinking about exceptions to generalizations, pushing to design for the margins instead of the midde of the curve. Being queer taught me that designing for folks who need it most, and who have been considered the least, leads to better solutions applicable to more people- ignoring these poles leads to systems that don't work.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

I love symbolism inherent in queerness- communicating something inherent to your identity that is imperceptible to individuals outside of the queer community. Example: using shells as a traditional symbol relating to femininity, or gender-bending them into oysters to represent trans-masculinity. Flower codes are also lovely.

Which other queer people inspire you?

I'm inspired by my local queer creatives in Cincinnati. They were the first ones to inspire me when I moved from my hometown in Texas, and it's lovely to see what new things they make and what languages we create as creatives together.
