Hi, I'm Ann Drew. I am an Illustrator, Designer, and Comic artist focused on making work in and around themes of pulp erotica, pop culture, and visual storytelling. Most of my work is created digitally, via Adobe Photoshop. Let's work together!

Starcrusher is a current project I am working on, following the idea of creating a series of one-page pulp novels. We follow the titular character of Sloane Starcrusher and her alien girlfriend, Persimmon Maxxxilla, as the pair traverse the galaxies searching for adventure, romance, and coffee shops. This series is a way for me to combine a few years' worth of short stories and pair them with a set of visual branding identities that follow the rubric of vintage science fiction pulp magazines. I am interested in the dichotomy of text bolstering and interacting with images to complete a story.

Every year, I make a huge Halloween poster. This was last year's image. I wanted to challenge myself to see how many figures I could confidently fit into one image.

This was a project for a group with which I have historically done a fair amount of work. Underwire Collective, each summer, runs their 'Summer Crush' series where Lesbian and Queer individuals gather for a fun open-air concert complete with a U-Haul lounge. I have done their poster work for this event for the last three years. 2025's theme was summer camp, and it was an absolute blast to work on this poster, social media campaign, and matching bandanas.

How does being queer inform your work?

I combine my perspective as a Queer individual with the intriguing world of pulp erotica by exploring the themes, aesthetics, and themes of 1930s-1950s American pulp magazines, pop culture, and visual storytelling, and reflect on how these narratives continue to shape LGBTQIA+ storytelling today.
